DIVA Bordeaux are lucky to count some of the world’s best golfers as clients. It was therefore fitting to organise an outstanding event in Portrush, Northern Ireland in July this year on the eve of the 148th Open Championship held at the Royal Portrush Golf Club.
Ryan Brown of DIVA and Charlie Matthews of the iconic Opus One teamed up to organise a wine dinner for a very select few sporting stars of the world of golf and also a VIP known to many in the world of pop music: in attendance was the 4 time, European tour event winner, Tyrrell Hatton, 2015 Master’s Champion Danny Willett and also Niall Horan, formerly part of One Direction and now the awarding winning solo artist – all wine lovers!
Guests were treated to a really thought-out menu, using only Northern-Irish produce, showing off perfectly the diversity of the quality local ingredients. On the wine front, a diverse selection of vintages of Opus One and Overture MV were presented by Charlie during a dinner full of laughter that lasted long into the night; the wines served in order:

Both Tyrrell and Danny produced excellent displays in tough conditions, finishing within the top 10 – therefore we can say without doubt that their vinous preparations were up to scratch!
